Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in public administration, business, economics, marketing or closely related field with five years of related experience. Experience may be substituted for education.
The Development Corporation of Snyder, Inc. (DCOS) is a Type A, non-profit public corporation governed by the Development Corporation Act of 1979 (State of Texas). It was organized by leaders in the community for the purpose of benefiting the community by promoting, assisting, and enhancing economic development activities.
Our mission is to use a designated portion of the local sales tax and other revenues which may be generated to stimulate Snyder's economic growth by assessing the community's needs, developing plans to meet those needs, coordinating community development efforts and supporting activities which enhance the quality of life in our community.
Under the general administrative direction of the DCOS Board of Directors, the executive director is responsible for accomplishing these purposes by developing and maintaining working relationships between the public and private sectors and furthering the development of commercial and industrial enterprises to promote and encourage employment opportunities for our citizens.
1. Work with new and existing businesses to develop and implement marketing plans and campaigns by creating proposals, utilizing current technology, maintain website and various forms of social media, write marketing plans, develop advertisements, place ads, meet with potential clients, brokers and developers, attend business and social functions, become involved in local service clubs, and develop promotional literature.
2. Plan and participate in trade shows, conferences, public appearances and special events by setting up trade show booths, distributing promotional literature, representing locally made products, planning luncheons and tours, speaking at events and serving on committees.
3. Process data by collecting data from various sources, analyzing and compiling resulting information into reports for distribution and presentation to appropriate parties.
4. Work with the Secretary/Treasurer to develop and manage budget by determining expenditures for the coming year and implementing the budget throughout the year. Work within applicable policies and procedures established by The Development Corporation of Snyder.
